Track Name: Seersucker
sweeter than your memory
you seem to seek a place in my sights
cold white walk home to my block
humming the night rewrites
you wondered, was it all a dare?
I told you that I didn't care
so soon to bloom me and you and the moon
hide away from the lights

you say the little things that come
to pin me out like common nouns
their trivial use for which I abuse
sleeping on your roommate's down
frequent re-occuring events
of my periodical descent
let's keep things fair with all due care
finish up word squares
Track Name: Sprig of Mint
one day in may you'll find
an elm grove spotted with ivy vine
a covered bridge to a place you insist
is always worth the time

down a path on hampton's back
and buried by the banks
feeling low from the order in stone
that their epitaphs take

just like a new mint sprig
who only gets sweeter when you muddle it
pearly stays in a saffron glaze
but I always waste the day

you're an over-looked, never-hooked
beachcombed find
from the littered backwash
of the high tide line

Track Name: Forsyth Park
Track Name: Morning Sleepers
wake up from dreaming
away the sunday view
I found you sleeping
away your morning too

your silent eyes
sink away from the window blinds
a full day to review
fake being asleep through

too many times
I apply to fall awry
thinking now I'll come to
a phrase that will break through

but you don't read books, do you?
patiently waiting through
small talk for something new
but you don't read books, do you?

misplaced adorations
will lead me mistaken
sometimes the head can't kill
things that the heart wills

I beside your bed
laid a siege aimed for your head
and narrow neck long graced
by the muscle she'd misplaced

but you don't read books, do you?
patiently waiting through
small talk for something new
but you don't read books, do you?
